About This Hemp
OneRoot's hemp is organic, grown on clean Canadian soil, free of chemicals and GMO crops. The seeds are shelled and raw, with a soft, nutty bite. One ingredient, and nothing done to it. 500 g.
Heat breaks down the fatty acids, so add them to food after cooking rather than during, and refrigerate the bag once it is open.
Ingredients
100% Canadian organic hemp seeds.
Benefits of Hemp Seeds
What is in a hemp seed, and why people reach for it. This is nutritional composition, not a medical claim.
About 12 g in a 30 g serving, and a complete protein, which is uncommon in a plant. The same weight of beef, chicken or almonds carries less. Comparison values: USDA National Nutrient Database.
Linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), in a 3:1 ratio. The body cannot make these, so they come from food.
A fat-soluble antioxidant vitamin. It is also the reason we use hemp oil in our H2 Honey Face Mask.
Rich in magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, iron and potassium.
This describes what the seed contains, not what it will do for you.
How to Eat and Store
How to eat. Sprinkle a spoonful over cereal, salad, yogurt or rice. Blend them into a hemp milk the way you would almond milk. The flavour is nutty, so they stand in for nuts for anyone with a nut allergy. Dry-toast on low heat to bring the nuttiness out. Add them after cooking, not during: heat breaks down the fatty acids.
How to store. Sealed, they keep at room temperature. Once opened, the fridge gives about a year, a pantry three to four months, and the freezer longer still.
