What is in it

Before you buy. Contains beeswax, so it is not vegan. Also contains coconut oil and cocoa butter, which matters if you react to either.

Five ingredients. That is the entire formula.

Organic coconut oil, the base. It melts a little below body temperature, which is why the balm goes soft the moment it touches you.
Organic cocoa butter, the firm part of the mix, and where the faint chocolate smell comes from.
Organic jojoba oil, the closest of the plant oils to what skin produces on its own.
Organic beeswax, the part that stays on the surface and slows moisture leaving.
Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols), an antioxidant that keeps the oils from oxidising in the tube.

There is no water in it. That is why there is no preservative and no fragrance: nothing has been added to make it smell like anything. What you smell is cocoa butter.

How to Use it

Rub the tube straight onto the skin, or warm a little between your fingers first. Hands, elbows, knees, heels, shins, anywhere that goes rough.

Use less than you think. It looks like it will disappear and then it keeps going.

The best moment is straight out of the shower while the skin is still slightly damp. There is no water in the balm, so what it does is hold on to what is already there.

What to Expect

Solid in the tube and melting on contact. Non-greasy is relative: this is an oil and wax balm, so expect a few minutes of slip before it settles.

A faint cocoa smell, because cocoa butter smells like cocoa butter. Nothing is added for scent and nothing is added to cover it.

Cold house, firm tube. Hot car, soft tube. Both are normal and it sets again.

Is it scented? No fragrance is added. The smell you get is the cocoa butter itself, and it fades within a few minutes.

Does it have a preservative? No, and it does not need one. Preservatives are there to stop things growing in water, and there is no water in this.

Will it mark my clothes? It is an oil balm, so give it a minute to settle before you get dressed over it.

Can I use it on my face? It is heavy and it sits on the surface. Some people like exactly that on a dry patch and others find it far too much for the whole face. Try a small area first.

Is it vegan? No. Beeswax is one of the five ingredients.
